Illinois RB has four Big 10 offers, lists MSU high

One of the fastest rising running back prospects in the Midwest for the class of 2011 is Mikail McCall of Thornridge High School in Illinois. The 6-foot-0, 216-pound prospect already has an impressive list of scholarship offers including one from Michigan State University. SpartanMag.com caught up with McCall and got the latest.

Michigan State would like to add a power runner to the class and McCall could be an excellent fit. The Spartans identified McCall as a player they wanted early on in the recruiting process and were actually the first team to offer him a scholarship. Since that time several other Big Ten teams have followed suit.
We heard that you were headed up to East Lansing to visit Michigan State this past weekend, how did that go?

"I was not able to make it up there, he said. "Something came up and my coach had to cancel it."

Have the Spartans offered you and where do they stand in your recruitment?

"Yes they have offered, I also just got offered by Wisconsin too," McCall stated. "They (Michigan State) are one of the top teams on my list"

With offers from Michigan State, Wisconsin, Illinois and Purdue, McCall is clearly one of the top running backs in the Big ten region for the class. We asked him what it feels like to receiver all this early attention and what are coaches saying about his ability.

"It feels good, I have worked real hard for everything," McCall stated. "All of the coaches say they like my size and my speed. I actually ran a 10.5 100-Meters last week."

McCall informed us that all of the schools that have offered as well as several others have already stopped into his school. Coach Dan Roushar serves as McCall's primary recruiter for the Spartans.

McCall stated that he hopes to visit several of the schools that have offered him in the coming weeks. He recently went down to Illinois for their spring game and enjoyed his time there. He plan on taking some time out this summer to stop into places like East Lansing d Madison.

Michigan State will likely take one more running back for the class of 2011. They have already gotten a commitment from Onaje miller of Lansing Sexton High school, but have offers out to McCall, Justice Hayes and Remound Wright. Any one of the three would be an excellent addition to the class. It could be a situation where whoever makes their decision first will get the spot.
