Blake nearing a decision
San Antonio (Texas) Brandeis cornerback Colin Blake is one of thousands of high school football players across the state that will start spring football in the coming weeks. After a good semester and offseason, Blake is ready to strap on the pads.
"It's going real good (school). Offseason went good. I got a little injury, but I'm good now. We start spring football tomorrow in full pads, so I'm excited."
With the end of the semester nearing, the open period where coaches can swing by to check on prospects has also started. Blake has already seen a few schools come by.
"Just Notre Dame and Baylor have come by the school so far. Baylor, I know they want me. They really can't talk to me that much, so they just wanted to meet me and see me. Both coaches said they'd be watching me a lot and see how I'm doing in spring ball."
Texas Tech hasn't seen the San Antonio product yet, but Blake said that his relationship with defensive coordinator Chad Glasgow will makes them a contender.
"I really like the coaching staff. I have a good relationship with Coach Glasgow. He's one of the coaches over there. It's gonna factor into my decision too," said Blake. "They told me I would play cornerback. They see me as a cornerback. They said that they really need a tall, physical corner and that I would fit their position in that defense perfectly."
Blake also said that he is starting to narrow down his list and hopes to make a decision in the coming months.
"I think I'm pretty close. I mean, I plan on making my decision after spring ball during the summer, but I've kind of narrowed it down to a few schools right now."
He listed those schools as TCU and A&M, but said there are also a few that will make the decision more difficult for him.
"I would say right now that my top two are TCU and Texas A&M, but Texas Tech and Baylor are making my decision hard as well."
Blake currently holds offers from Arizona, Baylor, TCU, Texas A&M, and Texas Tech.
