Bruesewitz recaps official
Though this past weekend was a great opportunity for the Wisconsin football team to host a handful of potential recruits during a night game at Camp Randall, it also provided the basketball team a chance to hammer out two official visits for the class of 2009.
The following is a question and answer with Mike Bruesewitz, who was in Madison this past weekend with fellow verbal Diamond Taylor:
How did everything go this weekend?
Bruesewitz: It was actually a lot of fun. We got up there Friday and got a chance to talk with Coach (Bo) Ryan and got to go his house. We got back and went to hang out with all the guys at Joe's (Joe Krabbenhoft) and J-Bo's (Jason Bohannon) house and just hung out there and had a lot of fun with the guys. They're all great guys and I felt real comfortable with them.
Did you get a chance to go to the football game at all?
Yeah, the game was a lot of fun. It was pretty crazy. The student section was nuts. It was a lot of fun to be there even though it was a little disappointing at the end, but I still had a good time.
I got a chance to talk with Evan Anderson and he said you guys had a chance to scrimmage with the team, how do you think you did?
I think I did pretty well. There are obviously a lot of big bodies on the floor. They have some good length on the wing but I think I played pretty well and I still have another year to develop.
A lot of guys compare you to Krabbenhoft, how was it playing with him on the court?
It was great. Joe's a great player and you talk with the other guys and they tell you during open gym that Joe's team doesn't lose. And it was true, I don't think he lost more than one or two games the whole day. It was fun to play against all those guys. I got to play against Jon (Jon Leuer) in high school and I guarded him quite a bit yesterday. Me and John are pretty good friends, so it was a lot of fun seeing those guys.
Did you get a chance to talk with Anderson and Vander Blue, those 2010 guys?
Yeah, we were pretty much together all Saturday. It was pretty neat to hang out with them and Diamond Taylor and to see all my teammates coming in over the next few years.
Did you notice any other recruits there, any 2011 kids?
Yeah, there were two 2011 kids that were there. One was from Wisconsin (Paul Jesperson. He was actually on my team and played real well for a 15-year-old. He went in there and wasn't really intimidated at all. He didn't seem too overmatched and he was comfortable on the floor. And then there was one from Bloomington, Ind., (Spencer Turner ), but I'm drawing a blank on his name right now. He's from Indiana, so he could shoot the ball a little bit. Both those kids came in and played real well.
How are things going for you right now? You have your commitment out of the way and you can focus on school and basketball.
Things are going well. I'm just focused on school and staying in shape, trying to get in shape for the season. I'm lifting more and trying to get a little bit bigger. I want to be around 215 or 220 pounds for the season. I'm doing all right, just trying to play a lot. I'm just having fun, not having to worry about college applications and stuff like that is pretty nice.
