Sources: Jeff Long has talked with D.J. Durkin, not a candidate

Sources have told Jayhawk Slant that Kansas athletics director Jeff Long has talked former Maryland head coach D.J. Durkin about the opening.

I can also confirm that Durkin contacted Kansas about the opening and is not a candidate for the job.

Durkin was the head coach at Maryland before being reinstated and then fired a day later. Durkin was the defensive coordinator at Michigan in 2015. Before taking the Michigan job he was the defensive coordinator at Florida and also served as the interim head coach.

Long announced David Beaty would not return for the 2019 season.
