6'5 290 OT Victor Mendoza

He'll be entering his SR season. He's at the same HS that Justin Springer went to.

I love the song. He looks like a decent prospect if the size is legit. Have the coaches inquired about him yet?

Not sure if the coaches have inquired yet. I just finished the video yesterday.

Here's a picture of him.

This thread has been up for two days and no one has tried to make a 'Mendoza Line' joke or reference?

Guess it had to be me.

Just based off of that video, he seems like a better guard prospect than OT to me. Center of gravity seems to play a little high, and as a result his balance seemed to suffer and he lost his block a couple of times from what I saw.

Also looked like he tries to push with his arms rather than driving with his feet a good portion of the time. As a result he really just got in peoples way rather than taking them out of the play. Makes me wonder if he might not have some bad weight or an issue with flexibility. Though even when he got beat, head out past his feet, he generally managed to pose enough of an impediment that they were effectively out of the play. My concern as an old OL though is that a D1 player is going to know and have the ability to get under his outside shoulder and leverage himself back to the ball. That's why I'd feel more comfortable having him in a position where he's handling more of a bull rush than fast little bastards, or big and fast ones.

All in all though he's definately going to get a look from someone with his frame, though I'd like to know what his wingspan is to make that determination, didn't play as long as I would have expected at 6'5". With a couple years in an S&C program I think he'd be a nice OG.

I was recently told that he did not play football his sophomore year.

Just checking in.

Signing day is close, not sure what happened with all the prospects/commits after the coaching change.

Mendoza is not committed yet.
