Whatever makes you feel good. I must have put the wrong team in for senior day for you guys last year. I know some people that walked up after kickoff and bought tickets at the window. Regardless, just like at MIZZOU, we (MU and KU) don't really sell out games or have near the demand that Nebraska has. You really can't find a ticket in Lincoln for a big game. That is simply not the case in Lawrance or Columbia. However, since it is the Nebraska game I think it is fair to say that this dudes biggest competition is going to be fellow Huskers. Looks like it is time for expansion at Memorial field though.

The game against a AA opponent, that has won 3 games in 3 years, this Saturday just sold out. Good luck walking up to get tickets to anything in Lawrence, you condesending ass.

We set an attendance record against a team that's won 3 games in 3 years and you come back with that? Jesus man, just come off it.

What??? What happened to your histronics about the sky beeing green? And its not a matter of running out of names, but finding the one that fits you perfectly.

There's one adjective we have yet to use.

S#itburger connoisseur.

Tastes nutty, dosn't it?

Wait a second, I just figured it out. You guys watched Blaine Gabbert against Illinois and are taking your frustrations out on me. I can understand that.

Can't even take a compliment can you? I was actually being serious but somehow you didn't think so. The sky would actually be yellow and not green, however it is still blue. Read my posts from the beginning of this thread and you will learn that my opinnion is based on my previous experiences at Memorial Stadium. My opinion may change the next time I am there, however, I hope that never happens and we keep our game at Arrowhead. Like I said before, it sounds like it is time to expand. If tickets are that hard to come by versus NOCO it seems logical to pump up those seat numbers to 70K at least.

I know those of you that want to talk football are waiting on that MRI down in Norman, OK. That KU/OU game in Larrytown will be a toss up in my opinion if Bradford does not play.

Richmond beat Duke last weekend at Duke so those of you going to that game can schedule an afternoon tee time because they suck. To bad they did not schedule a hoops game at halftime.

Baylor may spoil some seasons this year. They have a good QB so don't be to happy to get them back on your rotation next year. You are picking up OSU at a good time though. I think our game at OSU will be ugly this year.

What does Bricoe keep doing to get in the dog house? He is costing himself big money everytime he misses any time this year IMO.

Hard to tell if you're serious. Most just assume sarcasm.

We're putting in new scholarship suites on the east side which will bring the seat total by a few thousand.

Sucks for Bradford. I hope he's healthy by the time they come to town.

Duke looked to be a decent team coming in. They were improving and won some games last fall. Looks like they aren't developing quite as well as predicted. Southern Miss will give us a test at home. UTEP will be tough on the road.

Briscoe's suspension was a carry over from his spring suspension. Nothing new.

Guys, we have next to ZERO traffic on this board from posters from other schools and whether or not you agree with 96, he's trying to actually discuss some football, so let's not be a-holes like certain other boards. We NEED some good discussion on this board from opposing fans.

Posted on 9/7 8:55 PM | IP: Logged

I personally believe that a good reason the 'traffic' is low on this site is because everyone with anything to say is a gold member and says what there is to say there. Even posts by fellow Jayhawks are often looked at and then ignored, probably because the discussion is far more interesting on the pay site.

When the guy keeps harping on the same point refusing to see facts put before him it gets a little old. Just keeps going back to "past experiences", even if they are from the Terry Allen years. Forgive me if it gets a little old having to talk about the same things over and over again with a guy who's last account of the game is from 8 years ago and trying to tell us we're wrong.

Posted on 9/8 8:15 AM | IP: Logged

I understand the guy was wrong, but he did eventually admit it and tried to discuss some football. I've also seen this guy on some of the main boards and he's usually very level-headed and doesn't just flame anything KU. Responding with "Suck it slaver" or even calling him slaver comes off as very GPCesque.(suck it beaker, gayhawk, squawk)

+1 this guy is pretty ok he isn't like some MU posters of the past trying to get a gay reference in every post, he admitted when he was wrong.

Posted on 9/8 12:06 PM | IP: Logged

A couple thoughts on Duke: They return their qb and I've heard they have some serious NFL talent on their D-Line. Ofcourse they lost to an FCS school so they aren't that good either. But keep in mind this is a team many expected to suprise in the ACC and I made a trip or two to their messageboards in the offseason and they were fairly certain they could sneak up on us and beat us.

The two real stories out of the Big 12 North from week one are Blaine Gabbert and Colorado.

I really want to see what Gabbert can do against Okie State, UT, Baylor and Nebraska.

Colorado was really interesting. The KC media made the claim all offseason that there was not much talent differential in the Big 12 North. Many favored Colorado based on schedule, they thought K-State had a chance to compete based on the perceived lack of talent. I have a hard time figuring why the "experts" couldn't differentiate between KU, MU, Nebraska and the rest of the big 12 North; imo the talent isn't close between those three and the bottom three. The vaunted CU ground game, which was supposed to "line up and run over people" (Phil Steele on 810 whb) produced 29 yards on the ground. I could be wrong but I'll go on record and say CU is the same team they've been the last three years.

Posted on 9/8 12:23 PM | IP: Logged

GCHawk,

I think Gabbert, CU and Baylor are the big news out of week one. Baylor has a legit QB and for the first time in a long time I don't have a "W" on the schedule next to them. Hawkins in on the bigtime hotseat. Losses to MU, KU and NU might send him packing.

Did anyone that watched the MU v. Illinois game notice Gary Pinkel used the same defense Bill Young used against Brad Smith? Worked out the same way as well.

I have said it for nine months now and I feel even stronger about it now, our game at Arrowhead will be for the Big 12 North Tilte, sorry Huskers. Nebraska has to go to Larrytown and CoMo and I just don't see them winning either of those games.

KU minus eleven versus UTEP looks like a steel. I thought that line would be around 21.

We are expecting a near sell-out in CoMo this weekend against Bowling Green. They beat us the last time they visited, Gary Pinkel's first game as Tiger's coach.

I hear what you are saying. But I don't care if we have ZERO traffic. I'm not going to pretend that a guy who is a sarcastic condesending poster 95% of the time deserves to be humored 5% of the time.

I will take to task any fan base, no matter where they are fun, that comes on our sports board and takes the, "Oh how cute the KU fans think they know something about football" argument when they are confronted with facts, which is what this guy did.

I am sorry if I offended you when you tried to give me a compliment. But when you were confronted with the facts, given you by KU season ticket holders, you had a choice of how to react. We all know how you chose to react. So you can get down off that cross any time you see fit, slaver.

So a lot has changed in the past two years. KU football tickets are harder to come by than Nebraska football tickets. The sky is now yellow and the sun is blue!

Getting back to the original post, Husker fans, not Jayhawks will make this a tough ticket only if KU has run the table and this game is for the North. If not, it simply will be a see of Red not Crimson. And speaking of that Texas game, did they kick everyone out of the stadium the second half?

The post of a nice guy just expressing his opinions. How dare you treat him like other MU fans you have met.

Posted on 7/30 7:22 AM | IP: Logged

NE we're just saying he isn't as bad as most Mizzou posters, he hasn't called anybody gay or any of the stupid stereotypes his bretheren usually bring to the conversation. He is just going off his own personal experience, which happens to be abit dated. I don't consider the sky being yellow and the sun being blue a big enough insult to get worked up over.

If it makes you feel better that line is from a Grateful Dead song, Scarlet Begonias.

I heard Keeston Terry de-committed from Nebraska and is headed to KU, is that true? If so, that would be a nice addition to your class this year.

So this is what Mizzou is doing this year, FYI...

If you buy your tickets through Missouri or Kansas, chances are you’ll have a great seat to watch the third Border War football game at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City.

“We have all the tickets to the lower bowl,” Mark Alnutt, MU associate athletic director for administration, said on Saturday.

Each school, Alnutt said, has an allotment of 27,500 seats to the Nov. 28 game. Missouri began selling Border War tickets to the public at MUTigers.com at 6 p.m. Friday and that sale continues through Sunday.

But Alnutt said more than 11,000 tickets had been ordered previously by donors and season ticket holders and a large block are being reserved for MU students.

Starting Monday, any remaining tickets can be obtained by calling 1-800-228-7297 884-7297 in Columbia) or in person at the Mizzou Arena Ticket Office.
Tickets for club level seating are $100, for field box $60, for upper box $50 and for upper reserved $35. Tickets may not be available in all price ranges.

BY THE WAY, on MU’s Pick Two ticket promotion that kicks off on Aug. 14, in which for $99 you get a ticket to either the Nebraska or Texas games as well as a ticket to either the Baylor or Iowa State games?

The intent is two pronged. To boost sales to the lesser-demanded Baylor and Iowa State games. And, to make sure if Nebraska fans want to buy tickets to the MU home game on Oct. 8, they will have to pay extra for the privilege.

Two years ago a grass-roots (and not school run) campaign urging MU fans to buy extra tickets to the Nebraska at Missouri game successfully limited the size of the Cornhusker representation at Faurot Field.

Yes, there were thousands of Big Red fans. But considerably fewer thousands than previous years when Cornhusker boosters, shut out of home game tickets, regularly turned road games at Missouri, Kansas, Kansas State and Iowa State into seas of red.

The same thing is going on again now at Missouri

powermizzou.com definitely has the best Mizzou fans on the internet. Sure, there are guys like ultimatedude and a few others, but for the most part they are a pretty classy bunch.

tigerboard on the other hand........

Anyways, if Keeston truly did de-commit and is headed to KU, that definitely would be a great addition. It could explain why we've slow played a couple of WRs who've tried to commit to us lately.

Keeston will be a nice player wherever he goes. I still think though that Ricki Herod is the better prospect of the two.

It looks that way Rebel but you never really know. The season is a ways off and signing day is even further off, plenty of time for the kid to change his mind again.

Posted on 7/31 2:00 PM | IP: Logged

Drew Temple to KU. Watch out, he could be a spy! Has there ever been another football player to transfer from MU<>KU? I can't think of any. I know there was a player at Michigan that transferred to Ohio St. a couple of years ago. I wonder what the story behind this whole thing is? I have my guesses but who knows?

Posted on 8/4 6:33 PM | IP: Logged

It seems Temple might not play football, he hasn't asked the KU coaches if he could walk on yet.

What part of we averaged a sell out last year can't you understand? we sold out for Florida International (record crowd at the time). Why would we have any trouble filling up the stadium with KU fans against Nebraska?

Posted on 7/15 3:05 PM | IP: Logged

The last time NU was in Lawrence and we hung 72 on them the VAST majority of the crowd was made up of KU fans. Can you give any rational reason as to why that will change in 2009? Again, we averaged over 50,000 per game last year, so chances are against NU there will be plenty of KU fans. See you in Arrowhead for another beatdown. Imagine what Kerry Meier with two healthy legs to run on will do to your secondary.

Getting back to the original post, Husker fans, not Jayhawks will make this a tough ticket only if KU has run the table and this game is for the North. If not, it simply will be a see of Red not Crimson. And speaking of that Texas game, did they kick everyone out of the stadium the second half?

Nobody has said that KU tickets are harder to come by than Nebraska tickets. My God you have terrible reading comprehension.

Regardless of our season, this game will not be a sea of red. The crowds have been vastly pro-KU the last few times NU has been to Lawrence, with the Red contingent becoming smaller and smaller with each game. Lew is also cutting off single game ticket sales for the NU game so that any visiting NU fans who want to order a ticket ahead of time will have to purchase a package of 3 games which includes the NU game. This will be Senior day.

As for the Texas game, yes some people left early. It happens. EVERYWHERE. We hung with them for 3 quarters, but they pulled away late and some fans exited the stadium. That's never happened in Columbia. If you want to discuss football on this forum, go ahead. If you want to talk sh!t like the hypocritical punk you seem to be you'll be better served going to another board.

Posted on 7/15 1:51 PM | IP: Logged

How exactly am I being hypocritical? You can define a sellout how you want to but I will define it as not being able to walk up to the ticket window at kickoff and being able to get in the stadium. I have never once been able to go up to the window at an MU/KU game and not been able to get a ticket since the 80's. Why in the world would a team that breaks attendance records against Florida International have to sell NU tickets as a three game package? If every games sells out why would this have to be done? I agree that KU and Mangino have made huge strides since the days of getting 19K for football games (November 2001) but please don't try and make us all believe that Lawrance has all the sudden become a tough place to get a ticket for a football game, any football game.

As far a being a punk, you are the one talking big on the internet so how is Mr. Kettle doing?

1st off, you couldn't walk up and get a ticket to the Texas game. My friend definitely couldn't, he had to get his ticket through other means. You can have all the anecdotal stories you want, but we all know you're full of it.

2nd, the fact that you could walk up and get a ticket to a KU/MU game since the 80s means absolutely nothing. What do the 80s and 90s have to do with the now? What does 2001 have to do with today? Nothing. Things have changed.

3rd, It doesn't matter if we sell out against FIU. Do you know nothing about Nebraska fans? Nebraska fans will buy tickets months ahead of time. Nebraska fans will buy entire season ticket passes just so they can go to an away game. Nebraska fans take everything to a whole different level. No place is a tough place to get a ticket for an NU fan. All we can do is make it a little bit more difficult.

OK, how about last year at Arrowhead? KU did not sell all of their tickets to that game. Guess what? I bought 8 tickets through the KU athletic department. Yes, I know, KU won, nice win, we won the game for #1 the year before. However, such a loyal, selling out, record breaking fan base versus FL International should always sell all the tickets against Mizzou, right, even if the game was on the moon? For some reason you think this is only a KU issue. Hell, Mizzou only had one real sellout last year and anyone could get in if they wanted. My simple point all along is the NE fans will make this a hard ticket not KU's. Is that fact that hard to addmit? KU fans make the MU/KU game in
hoops a hard ticket in COMO. Deal with reality not dreams buddy!

So you change the subject by bringing up neutral game site games played on Thanksgiving weekend at an NFL site to prove you know what you are talking about?

And I don't think anyone is arguing that NU fans don't drive the price and availability of tickets to the NU/KU game...we're arguing your oppinion that anyone can walk up and buy tickets to KU games. You are talking to a bunch of KU football ticket holders. We are people who have spent a lot of time looking for little signs (like lack of walk-up tickets) that the team was going in the right direction.

You tell us to deal with reality...but you have offered nothing more than secondary accounts that could not have been true or primary accounts that don't relate to the issue at hand.

Posted on 7/22 9:02 AM | IP: Logged

K-State had literally over a thousand fans sitting on the hill last year. They probably assumed they were going to walk up on gameday and buy a ticket last year too. The game at Arrowhead means nothing, its a road game and they (the Chiefs/Arrowhead officials) didn't do a good job handling the crowd the previous season.

Posted on 7/22 11:27 AM | IP: Logged

And once again, KU will not be a sea of red as you imply for the nebraska game. Yes, that was the case several years back, but it wasn't two years ago and it won't be this time. Deal with it!

Posted on 7/22 1:51 PM | IP: Logged

OK, maybe we need to go back to home and home and not Arrowhead so I can see this miraculous transformation for myself. Maybe I will get shutout and I will be forced to watch the game at Jetlag.

Are there plans to enlarge Memorial Stadium with the current demmand for tickets?

Posted on 7/22 4:33 PM | IP: Logged

Yeah. Here is the link to the article about the facility they are building for the KU Track team and the Kansas Relays. This will provide them the opportunity to remove the track from the stadium....and what do you think they will do with that room? I think they will let it sit there rather than sell more seats....thats what I think.

Now go away before you embarass yourself an 8th time.

Man you people are have sensitive feelings. FWIW, we have our own ways to keep the red out of COMO. Not the same way as KU but we still do it, I can admit it. We also do it for the MU/KU game in hoops.

Posted on 7/23 12:00 PM | IP: Logged

Not really a question of sensitivity. We just are eager to address ignorant posts by ignorant people.

Posted on 7/23 12:03 PM | IP: Logged

Ignorant? Really? I would say more antagonistic but as a Mizzou fan I would expect a lot worse. Maybe I will have to come up for the Duke game and see it for myself. If that game is a sellout and the house is packed at 11AM I will shut up for good.

Posted on 7/23 2:00 PM | IP: Logged

Again...funny you should bring up the Duke game. When I bought my season tickets last week, I was having trouble finding tickets in a decent section for any of the non-confrence games (AA opener aside). So you might just be looking at quite a sellout for any of those games.

And everyone knows how you keep people out of COMO. Its called being a HUGE A$$HOLE and your state has been practicing that tactic since you were a territory. Put that on your resume and act proud.

Wow! Are we going to start some Civil War talk now. If that is the case the Kansas-Nebraska Act will fit perfectly into this thread. Both states were hell bent turning over the Missouri Compromise. FWIW, both Kansas and Nebraska are now sitting in the area once known as the MISSOURI TERRITORY. I will smoke to that.

No that wasn't civil war talk. Its a 'behaving civil' talk. Both NU fans and KU fans are all too familiar with the behavior of your fan base. And when you put that up against the historical behavior of people from your state, there is a certian level of consistency.

You are well known for being A$$holes. And you don't need to be on the other side of a civil war to learn that. You just need to be paying attention.

Interseting, siding with the Huskers and ganging up on Tiger fans. I have not called anyone names on this thread or slashed any tires, just simply stated my opinion and experiences at Memorial Stadium. If that make me a jerk, so be it. P.S. The Muck Fizzou shits are great! Keep it classy Kansas.

Do you really want to go there? I've seen a lot of classless shits on the Mizzou side. We can ALL play that game.
