Somthing similar happened to us once. Turned out the guy knocking with a flashlight was a policeman and they were looking for a shoplifter who had fled into the area. Don't know if they ever got him.

You call 911 and ask the police to send someone over to check it out. No reason for you to lose sleep over it that way.

or

Open the door, point the gun at the guy and scream..Make my day Motherf%$&^%!!

Well, considering the gun isn't loaded, that may be difficult to do....I'm not sure if I want to take that gamble wink

I think you're better off not having a gun than a gun with no bullets/shells!

Next time, call 911. Cops working that shift would be pumped to come check out the situation. I have few cop friends and they love the grave yard shift.

Could be a case of mistaken address on the part of the person/people that were there. Perhaps he/she/they thought someone else lived there. Could be a variety of things. But, seriously, at least put in a call to the police and perhaps they can send a patrol car through your complex tonight on the off chance you get a return visit. Don't call 911, but call the station directly and file a report or ask to have an officer drive through late tonight. Better safe than sorry.
