Future at inside LB?

The Future at inside linebacker

After failing to bring in an inside linebacker in the 2012 class, Georgia will be focused on bring in quantity and quality at the position for 2013. It appears that the Bulldogs would like to sign four inside linebackers in this class, and they have already targeted some of the top prospects in the country at the position.

Top Targets

• LB Reuben Foster, (Troup) - Foster is one of the top targets for Georgia at any position. The second ranked prospect in the country by Rivals.com is one of, if not the, best linebacker prospect for the entire country in the last five years. He possesses a combination of size, speed, intensity, work ethic, and ability to finish plays that is rare, and his recruitment is going to be a wild one. He committed to Alabama last summer, but has been visiting other schools since. While some believe that he is just having fun and not seriously considering the other schools, most close to the situation believe that other schools, mainly Georgia, have a real shot at Foster.

• LB Johnny O'Neal (East Laurens) - O'Neal has been on almost everyone's radar since he was a sophomore in high school. At 6-foot-2, 225 pounds, the Dublin native has an ideal frame to play inside linebacker in Georgia's 3-4 scheme, and he is also a monster in the weight room. O'Neal is considering Georgia, Georgia Tech, Florida, FSU, and Alabama at this time, but many believe that the Middle Georgia star has the Bulldogs out front right now, and could commit this summer.

• LB Larenz Bryant, (Vance; Charlotte, N.C.) B- ryant isn't the biggest linebacker around at 6-foot-1, 210 pounds, but he is one of the quickest, fastest, and most athletic linebackers in the country. The Charlotte native plays down hill very well, and excels in playing sideline-to-sideline football. It is also important to note that he has a great deal of room to grow and put on good weight at the next level. Bryant recently told UGASports that he has a top five of Georgia, Clemson, NC State, Florida, and Virginia, but offers are rolling in on a regular basis, and that group could change a lot in the coming months.

• LB Ben Boulware, (TL Hanna; Anderson, S.C.) - Boulware received an offer from Georgia during his visit for Very Important Dawg weekend, and left UGA impressed with what he saw. Boulware is a throw back player by his own admission that just likes to play down hill and tackle the ball carrier. He has some kinks in his game that need to be worked out, but he is a very cerebral player that understands and loves the game of football. Georgia is one of a few teams that stand out for him right now, but watch out as the instate teams, South Carolina and Clemson, come calling in the near future. Boulware's star is undoubtedly on the rise.

Long Shot

• LB E.J. Levenberry Jr., (C.D. Hylton; Woodbridge, Virginia) - Levenberry is one of the top linebackers in the country and just received a Georgia offer earlier this week. At 6-foot-3, 226 pounds, Levenberry is one of the biggest linebackers in the country, but he is also one of the most athletic. His father told UGASports after Georgia offered earlier in the week that they are interested in anyone interested in them, but it remains to be seen how big of a splash Georgia can make in his recruitment.
