Cignetti strikes a chord for Pitt with Wash. QB

Sammamish (Wash.) Skyline quarterback Jake Heaps has been a top target of college recruiters for more than two years now and he has already named a top ten of schools that he plans to focus on. But the recruiting process is always in flux, and a coaching change at one of his top schools has brought another college into the mix.

"I have my top ten list out there and those are the schools I'm definitely looking at, but some new schools like Pittsburgh have stepped up to the table so I'm giving them a hard look and making sure I know everything I can," Heaps told PantherLair.com. "I have an offer from Pitt. As soon as Coach Cignetti got there we were talking and I've been talking with him pretty often, so Pitt is definitely a school I'm looking at."

"Coach Cignetti" is Frank Cignetti, who left Cal-Berkley in mid-February to take the offensive coordinator position at Pitt. Cignetti was recruiting Heaps for the Bears, and when he joined the Panthers' staff he brought his relationship with Heaps along to Pittsburgh.
