Kansas City lineman grabs Kansas offer

Last weekend was a busy one for Dyland Admire. The offensive lineman from Blue Valley West visited Nebraska on Friday and attended the junior day event at Kansas on Saturday. The Cornhuskers offered and the Jayhawks did the same on Saturday.

"I sat down with coach (Turner) Gill and he offered me a scholarship," Admire said. "Coach Gill has a great background. He said he watched my tape and loved the passion I play with."

During the visit Admire also spent with Reggie Mitchell and J.B. Grimes.

"Coach Mitchell is my lead recruiter and Coach Grimes coaches the offensive line so they are both people I spent time around," Admire said. "My parents talked with both of them. Coach Grimes is a great teacher and has a lot of experience. I was super excited to be around both coaches."

The visit began with a tour around the Anderson Family Complex, a building that opened before the 2008 season and was built specifically for the football program. After that the recruits attended the basketball game against Nebraska.

"The football facility is almost brand new and it was amazing," Admire said. "The weight room was great and I liked how they have a full-time nutritionist on staff. I was impressed with the locker room. We also saw the new academic center and it is brand new. They provide tutors and whatever you need. The computer lab was really nice and they support their athletes."

Things don't slow down for Admire. He plans to attend junior days at Kansas State (Feb. 13), Iowa State (Feb. 20) and another trip to Nebraska on Feb. 27.

"I want to take as many visits as I can to see if I jell with the coaching staffs and see what they offer in academics," Admire said. "Academics is a big part."

Last week one of Admire's teammates at Blue Valley West, Pat Lewandowski, signed with Kansas.

"I'm excited for him and I will talk to him about his experience at Kansas," Admire said.

Admire said he plans to attend spring football games at Kansas and Nebraska.
