Park recaps trips to Auburn, Michigan
Pittsburgh (Pa.) Upper St. Clair offensive lineman Ian Park recently visited two of the big name programs in college football.
Michigan and Auburn are still carefully evaluating Park, so they haven't decided whether they want to offer the 6-foot-4, 295-pound guard from western Pennsylvania.
Park has heard enough from those schools to get excited, though, so he wanted to see what the Tigers and Wolverines had to offer.
"I was at Michigan (on Saturday)," Park said. "I was at Auburn the week before that.
"Michigan was great. I got to watch practice and the scrimmage, which was awesome. Afterwards I met with coach Funk, the offensive line coach. He said he's basically going to watch my full game tape. He liked my highlights. Once he watches the full game tape he'll let me know whether they're going to offer. He said it's looking good.
"Auburn was great. I had never been to the South before so it was a first. I got to tour all over the campus and we went over the academics and stuff like that. It was pretty cool to see the defending national champions."
On Sunday night Park picked up an offer from Vanderbilt. He has also received offers from Cincinnati, Maryland, Pitt, Syracuse and West Virginia.
Park said he's excited about the new Vanderbilt offer because he believes the Commodores offer a great education and have a football program that's on the rise. He also cited their need for quality offensive linemen.
