Tech offers 2013 DL
College Station (Texas) A&M Consolidated defensive end Christian LaCouture made the trip to Houston over the weekend to attend a Texas Tech camp.
"It went really well. I had a great time and I enjoyed getting to visit with Coach Chad Glasgow and Coach Tommy Tuberville," LaCouture said. "I just did the best I could while I was there and they told me they were offering me afterwards. I was excited to have it."
Tech and LaCouture have been building a relationship over the past year, and Sonny Cumbie has been the guy at the forefront for the Red Raiders.
"I've been talking to Coach Cumbie since my freshman year. We've been building a great relationship," he said. "My old defensive coordinator from Permian is at Tech now too, so I've had a relationship with their program for a while now."
The 6-foot-4, 240-pounder has also struck up a relationship with his new teammate, and 2012 Tech commit, J.J. Bynum. Bynum was also in attendance at the camp in Houston.
"J.J. is a great guy and he's been trying to get me to go with him. We've started summer workouts down here so we've started building a strong relationship and he's trying to convince me to go to Tech with him. He hasn't been too hard on me."
It sounds as though LaCouture will make one more stop this summer before wrapping up his camp visits.
"I'm probably going to go to A&M's o-line/d-line camp and that will probably be it for me," he said. "A&M and Tech have been the top two for me for a long time, so I don't really feel the need to see any other camps or take any other unofficial visits."
Could an official visit to Tech come in the future?
"It's hard to say right now. I'm committed to A&M and I still feel firm with that. Maybe down the road that might happen, but I'm committed to A&M right now and I'm still pretty solid with it."
