Hosick adds first offer

After leading Kansas City Staley to an undefeated state championship season, junior quarterback Trent Hosick has seen his recruiting start to pick up this month. In fact, just this week the 6-foot-2, 221-pound Hosick received his first scholarship offer, which came from the Iowa Hawkeyes.

"I actually just got off the phone with Coach Eric Johnson from Iowa and received my first offer," said Hosick. "It's a great feeling, a wonderful feeling."

It is likely just one of several offers that Hosick will eventually have as Missouri, Kansas State, Northwestern, and Nebraska all seem to be getting close. Still, the Class of 2013 prospect says that he will always remember who was first.

"I think whoever is the first school to offer, it makes a statement that they are taking a chance on you and they're willing to say we think you're the guy," Hosick said. "What we decided as a family early on was that whoever is the first to offer is a school that's going to remain in our top five for the whole recruiting process. We're going to highly consider going there."

On the field, Hosick is a dual-threat quarterback who threw for 1,422 yards and ran for 2,403 yards on the ground with a total of 41 touchdowns.
