Allen switch? Definitely a chance
Oregon's final visit weekend could be full of fireworks for Duck fans. A growing list of visitors will be in Eugene, including Missouri City (Tex.) Elkins wide receiver Chance Allen.
Duck Sports Authority spoke with the 6-foot-3, 190-pound athlete prior to his visit to get the latest.
In film review, Allen uses his length and body well to shield of defenders. He explained to DSA why that is the case. "Mostly I think I've got strong hands and I know how to turn my numbers back to the quarterback."
Another impressive skill identified in Army week drills and film evaluation is his ability get up into the feet of the defensive backs who don't give him a cushion.
"Quickness has been a strength of my game," Allen concurred. "I play basketball. I play point guard on my team so it helps with my quickness coming off the ball. It helps keeping the DB from getting his hands on me. I know how to use my body against the defender real well and that's how I get open."
As Allen makes his trip West to Eugene along with fellow Houston-area standout receiver Bralon Addison to join two other recruit on their visits, he will be giving the Ducks serious consideration despite having committed to the Oklahoma State Cowboys during his official visit last weekend.
"There is a chance I might switch to the Ducks," admitted Allen. "Mostly I committed to Oklahoma State because I didn't know what was going on with Chip Kelly, if he was going to the NFL. There is a chance I could end up a Duck, we'll have to see how the weekend goes."
