LeGrand putting in work

Dubuque Senior offensive lineman Lucas LeGrand decided during the spring that the University of Iowa was the best fit for him on the college front. He was glad to see two other in-staters recently join him in committing to the Hawkeyes.

"I am really glad that they did. I felt Keegan (Render) was going to earlier than he did but it was good having him commit. After Matt (Nelson) saw Iowa, I couldn't see him going anywhere else. At Iowa, he has everything he needs."

Render is the one that LeGrand has spent more time with at this point.

"I got to talk to Keegan a little more than Matt. Keegan always seemed upbeat about Iowa. I assume he was more Iowa. I never really got a chance to talk to Matt much. I had played basketball with him in 7th or 8th grade so I knew him and knew that he'd like Iowa."

LeGrand has used his time this summer to improve with his high school teammates at Senior.

"This summer Coach Ploessl has us in the weight room working out. We have running, agilities, and work on plays every day. We are in there from 7 until 9. We are just trying to improve on what we didn't do good last year and improve on what we did good last year too."
