Committed players take in official visits

In addition to the large number of uncommitted recruits that took officials this weekend, Kansas coaches also had several committed players show up including quarterbacks Montell Cozart, Jordan Darling, and tight end Ben Johnson.

For Darling, he enjoyed getting to tour the Jayhawk Towers and getting a better idea of what life would be like at Kansas, his favorite part of the trip was the food.

"If there is one thing they did it was kept us well fed," Darling said. "Yesterday after the basketball gam we had this dinner which consisted of crab legs, baked potatoes, chicken, and shrimp. It was so good and I think I gained about five pounds."

Darling's host for the weekend was tight end Jordan Smith. Darling also was able to spend time around some of the uncommitted visitors.

"I wasn't really trying to persuade anybody but just trying to show them my perspective and my perspective is that I believe that they are going to turn this program around and that I believe in Coach Weis," Darling said.

Montell Cozart got to spend a considerable amount of time with quarterback coach Ron Powlus and head coach Charlie Weis.

"Coach Powlus went over the playbook and some of the things I would to adjust to in the new offense," Cozart said. "Coach Weis talked about continuing to recruit these other players to get them on board and stay on on top of them."

Cozart's host for the weekend was his old teammate at Bishop Miege Tre Parmalee.

"One of my favorite parts was the basketball game," Cozart said. "I have been to several KU games before but everytime I go I get chills. Just hearing the rock chalk chant is exciting everytime."

Johnson's host for the weekend was defensive end Neal Page.

"My favorite part was the team football banquet," Johnson said. "Just hearing Coach Weis talk about how the program is turning around and how the seniors that were leaving had started a tradition was the best moment of the trip for me."
