Former UT Verbal Knox Picks Ohio State

  • Fort Worth All Saints offensive lineman Demetrius Knox has committed to Ohio State. Knox, a former Texas verbal, is one of four All Saints prospects that are heading to BCS schools. Along with Knox, athlete Kendall Adams committed to Kansas State, quarterback Foster Sawyer to TCU, and running back Daniel Gresham to Louisville. The new Buckeye also heavily considered Florida, Florida State, and UCLA along with offers from the likes of Alabama, Baylor, Louisville, LSU, Miami (FL), Michigan, Nebraska, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Oregon, and Texas A&M to name a few.
  • Jason Hall Flips from Huskers to 'Horns

  • South Grand Prairie defensive back Jason Hall, a former Nebraska commit, has decided to attend the University of Texas. Hall was named Honorable Mention All-District in 7-5A after intercepting three passes. Hall selected the Longhorns over Baylor, Iowa, Nevada, North Texas, Oklahoma, and Utah.
  • Jovan Pruitt Headed to Hog Country

  • Lone Star offensive lineman Jovan Pruitt of Dallas Bishop Dunne is heading to Arkansas. Pruitt, a three-star recruit according to Rivals, also was courted by the likes of Baylor, Florida, Missouri, Nebraska, Ole Miss, Oklahoma, Texas, and Texas Tech among others. Along with Pruitt, Arkansas got another big-time offensive line commit this week when Lackawanna CC (Scranton, PA) standout Jermaine Eluemunor decommitted from UCLA and selected Arkansas. Argyle kicker Cole Hedlund has also committed to Arkansas out of Texas in the Class of 2014.
  • Allen Tight End Evans Commits to OU

  • Class of 2015 tight end Bobby Evans of Allen committed to Oklahoma this past week. Evans was a member of the 2012 Texas 5A-Division I state champions while teaming up with fellow junior Kyler Murray. Murray, like Allen, is considered one of the top prospects in the state of Texas in the Class of 2015. Last week Bobby's older brother, Allen linebacker Tay Evans, committed to the Sooners as a member of a solid 2014 class. Both are sons of former OU hoopster Bobby Joe Evans. According to Oklahoma high school writer and Oklahoma recruiting expert Ryan Aber of The Daily Oklahoman, Bobby is likely to be an offensive tackle at Oklahoma.
  • Oklahoma State Makes Moves in Texas

  • Oklahoma State head coach Mike Gundy continues his foothold in Texas with two verbal commitments over the past week. Euless Trinity offensive lineman Lemaefe Galeai and Stamford wide receiver James Washington are the latest two from the Lone Star State to commit to the Cowboys. Galeai, who also held an offer from Baylor, was named First Team 6-5A All-District as a junior. Washington was a First Team 1A All-State selection according to the Associated Press Sports Writers (APSE) and Texas Sports Writers Association (TSWA) after an impressive 1,141 receiving yards and 12 touchdowns as a junior.
  • Round Rock's Mitchell Makes Early Pledge to TCU

  • Breylin Mitchell, an up and coming defensive end from Round Rock, has verbally committed to join an outstanding defensive setup at TCU to kick start the Class of 2015 for the Horned Frogs. Mitchell was named the 16-5A Defensive Newcomer of the Year after an outstanding sophomore season. TCU was believed to be Mitchell's first and only offer.
  • Cibolo Steele Has Two Pledges in Malign, Moen

  • Defensive end Josh Malin has verbally committed to Baylor while tight end Matt Moen also is FBS bound by accepting an offer from Nevada to give Cibolo Steele four Division I verbal commits thus far in the Class of 2014. Malin recorded 56 tackles to earn First Team All-District honors in 28-5A. Malin is physically imposing at 6-5, 250 pounds and considered one of the top talents in the San Antonio area this season regardless of position. Malin also held offers from Missouri, Northwestern, Oklahoma, and Texas Tech. Moen joined Malin on the First Team All-District list after six receptions for 101 yards and a touchdown. Harvard and New Mexico State were among others interested in Moen.
  • Rice Makes Strides With Six Pledges

  • Rice has been extremely busy this month by receiving eight pledges in the Class of 2014 with Mesquite Horn athlete Destri White arguably the headliner. White was the 12-5A Offensive Most Valuable Player as a junior after his 2,196 passing yards and 28 touchdowns while adding 805 rushing yards and eight touchdowns. Cypress Woods running back Samuel Stewart also has pledged to Rice to help the offense. Linebackers Emmanuel Ellerbee of Houston Strake Jesuit and Leander's Martin Nwakamma join the fray. Ellerbee was a Second Team 19-5A selection as a junior after his 92 tackles and four tackles for loss, while Nwakamma of Leander earned First Team 25-4A All-District honors following 65 tackles and nine tackles for loss. Mansfield's J.T. Ibe was a Second Team All-District selection in 7-5A after 57 tackles and three interceptions while defensive tackle Preston Gordon from Frisco Heritage recorded 39 tackles last season and helps bolster the defense of the future for the Owls.
