Kansas vs. Iowa State: The Series:

Kansas leads the all-time series with Iowa State 173-59, dating back to 1908 and has won 16 of the last 17 meetings. ISU's last win was Jan. 28, 2012, 72-64 in Hilton Coliseum. Kansas holds a 67-37 advantage in games played in Ames, Iowa, including a 23-19 edge in Hilton Coliseum. Since the inception of the Big 12, Kansas is 29-8 against Iowa State with a 26-8 record in regular-season play and a 3-0 mark in the Phillips 66 Big 12 Championship. Kansas head coach Bill Self is 19-3 all-time versus Iowa State, including 18-3 while at KU, while ISU's Fred Hoiberg is 1-6 all-time against KU. Expect a close one as since Hoiberg's arrival at ISU, four of the five meetings have been decided by nine points or less with two of those in overtime, both being last season's regular-season matchups. Kansas defeated Iowa State 88-73 in the semifinals of the 2013 Big 12 Championship in Kansas City en route to the title.

A Kansas Win Would….:

Improve KU to 12-4 on the season... Keep Kansas as the only undefeated team in Big 12 play at 3-0... Make KU 3-0 in conference play for the eighth-straight season and 10th time in the 11-year Bill Self era... Extend KU's win streak versus Iowa State to four-straight... Make the Kansas-Iowa State series 174-59 in favor of KU, including 30-8 in the Big 12 era... Make KU 24-19 in Hilton Coliseum... Make KU 50-16 on ESPN Big Monday in the Big 12 era... Make Bill Self 20 3 all-time against Iowa State, 312-63 while at Kansas and 519-168 overall... Make KU 2,113-816 all-time.

A Kansas Los Would….:

Drop Kansas to 11-5 on the season... Make Kansas 2-1 in Big 12 play, making the 2002 Jayhawks the only team to have gone through the Big 12 undefeated (16-0)... Make KU 2-1 in Big 12 play for the first time since 2005-06... End Kansas' three-game win streak versus Iowa State... Make the Kansas-Iowa State series 173-60 in favor of the Jayhawks... Make KU 23-20 in games played in Hilton Coliseum... Make KU 49-17 on ESPN Big Monday in the Big 12 era... Make Bill Self 19-4 all-time against Iowa State, 311-64 in his 11th season at Kansas and

Kansas-Kansas State: The Leftovers:

-- Kansas won its eighth-straight, home-conference-opening win and its 30th league home-opening victory in the last 31 seasons.

-- Kansas improved to 2-0 in conference play for the 10th time in the 11-year Bill Self era.

-- The Jayhawks didn't turn the ball over in the first half, their first half without a turnover since the second half of the regular season opener against Towson on Nov. 11, 2011.

-- Kansas hit six threes in the second half, tying the best effort of the season (6, second half vs. Florida). The eight threes for the game tied efforts at Florida (12/10) and Oklahoma (1/8) for most three-point makes in a game this season.

-- Freshman G Andrew Wiggins (22) and freshman G Wayne Selden, Jr.(20) each turned in 20-point efforts, marking the fourth different game this season that multiple Jayhawks have scored 20 or more points (vs. Duke; vs. Toledo; vs. Oklahoma).

-- The Jayhawks saw three or more players score in double figures for the 14th time this year and had four players in double figures for the eighth game.

-- Selden turned in 20 total points, his second-straight game with 20 or more. Prior to starting Big 12 Conference play, Selden had just four double-digit scoring efforts.

-- Not to be outdone, Wiggins poured in 17 points in the second half en route to a game-high 22 points. Wiggins scored 11 straight in the second half as Kansas saw its lead grow to more than 20.

-- Sophomore F Perry Ellis contributed 12 points on 6-of-11 shooting from the field, his 11th double-digit game this season and 18th of his career.

-- Freshman C Joel Embiid pulled down a game-high nine rebounds and chipped in 11 points before being ejected with 5:49 to play in the second half. The Big 12 has said Embiid will be eligible to play at Iowa State.

-- Kansas improved to 6-0 when freshman G Conner Frankamp scores, as the Wichita, Kan., product drained his only three-point attempt of the game in the first half.

-- Junior G Naadir Tharpe contributed a game-high nine assists and no turnovers. It was the third time he chipped in nine or more assists this season with a season-best 10 dimes coming against Iona (11/19/13).

WHAT'S TRENDING

-- Kansas has shot better than 60 percent from the field in a half six times this season and is 9-1 when shooting 50 percent or better in the game.

-- In 10 of KU's 11 victories, the Jayhawks have scored at least 80 points.

-- Kansas has outrebounded 13 of its 15 opponents this season. KU has seven games with a +10 rebound advantage, including four of its last seven contests (36-22 at Oklahoma, 44-28 vs. Toledo, 39-29 vs. Georgetown and 40-30 at Florida).

-- KU has held all but one opponent (Duke, 51.7) under 50 percent shooting this season, while the Jayhawks have shot 50 percent or better in 10 games, including five of their last six contests and six of the last eight outings.

-- After shooting 7-for-10 against Kansas State, freshman G Wayne Selden, Jr. has shot 50 percent or better in six of his last nine games and is 13-for-26 (50.0 percent) from three-point range in his last six games. Selden's eight threes in the last two games are more than any other KU player in a two-game span this season.

-- Freshman C Joel Embiid leads KU with three double-doubles, which is tied for seventh in the Big 12, while sophomore F Perry Ellis has two and freshman G Andrew Wiggins one.

-- After his 5-for-7 effort versus Kansas State (1/11), Embiid is 24-for-35 (68.6 percent) from the field in his last six games with 11.3 ppg and 8.5 rpg averages in that span. Embiid has 27 blocked shots in his last nine games. Additionally, he was 1-for-2 from three-point range versus Kansas State and is 1-for-4 for the season from beyond the arc.

-- Junior G Naadir Tharpe has topped the team in assists 11 times, including each of the last seven games (which includes ties). Tharpe has 17 assists and one turnover in his last three games (5-0 vs. San Diego State, 3-1 at Oklahoma and 9-0 versus Kansas State).

-- After his 7-for-13 (53.8 percent) effort against Kansas State (1/11), including a 3-for-4 effort from three-point range, Wiggins has shot 50 percent or better in six games. His three threes against the Wildcats were his second most this season (four at Florida). Wiggins is 45-for-52 (86.5 percent) from the free throw line in his last eight games.
