Trier Headlines Sunflower Showcase

Coming off an absolutely sensational showing at the EYBL Nike Peach Jam, Allonzo Trier will arrive in Shawnee, Kan., site of the Sunflower Showcase, riding a wave of momentum as high as any player in the 2015 class.

"I think the key for me this summer has been staying true to myself and playing my game," Allonzo Trier, the 6-foot-3, 185-pound shooting guard from Findlay Prep in Henderson, Nev., told Jayhawk Slant. "Also, my consistency level has been great all summer.

"I fully expected it (to become of the nation's elite players in the 2015 class)," he added. "I think the biggest key for me was people seeing the way I dominated in different ways this summer. I think that I definitely put my stamp on the league (EYBL). I think my numbers prove that."

For Trier, the No. 12 ranked player in the 2015 class, his numbers, without question, speak for themselves. Heading into the EYBL Nike Peach Jam, Trier was averaging 29.3 points per game through 15 games. During that same stretch, he averaged 4.2 rebounds per game, 1.7 assists and shot 47 percent from the field.

Trier, the 2014 EYBL regular season MVP, was just as impressive last week in N. Augusta, S.C., site of the Peach Jam. He tallied 26 points against Team Takeover, 27 against CIA Bounce, 24 against Each 1 Teach 1, 35 against Team CP3 and 40 against the New Jersey Playaz.

"Scoring is about me constantly working on my game," said Trier. "I work on scoring in a lot of different ways and I have a lot of great instincts. I definitely have the ability to handle the ball and make plays, so if I see a double-team coming, I can find somebody in the gap or an open teammate, that way we can get a better shot."

"I just try to do whatever I can to make teams pay," he added.

Because of his play on the court, Trier, while spending the spring and summer running with Athletes First has established himself as one of the most coveted players in the 2015 class.

Baylor, Connecticut, Georgetown, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisville, Arizona, Maryland, Memphis, Minnesota, North Carolina, N.C. State, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, SMU, Texas, Tulsa, UCLA and Wichita State are just a few of the programs that have invested a great deal of time recruiting the five-star guard.

Trier, when talking to Jayhawk Slant at the Peach Jam, touched on his interest in Bill Self and the University of Kansas.

"Things with Kansas are going very well. Kansas wants to come to my house and do an in-home visit and they want to try and figure out a date for me to visit during that time (in-home visit)," said Trier. "I've been in touch with Coach Self. I am very interested in Kansas and Coach Self has talked to my mom about an in-home visit.

"There's a very good chance that I'll make it out to Kansas for an official visit," he added. "It's just more about timeing than anything else, so we'll see. I know that Coach Self has been in contact with my mom and that (visit) is something we'll discuss during the in-home visit."
