The Jayhawks picked up two commitments on Sunday from wide receivers who happen to be good friends and from the same team.

Earlier in the day Kansas got a commitment from Ezra Naylor and later in the evening Andrew Parchment followed.

Parchment had a lot of recruiting attention coming out of high school picking up offers from North Carolina State, South Florida, Cincinnati, Iowa State and several others. He signed with Northern Illinois and after a season transferred to Iowa Central.

After taking an official visit this weekend, he committed to Kansas and said he’s ready to get his career going in the Big 12.

“It feels great,” he said about committing. “I’m in a big-time conference, with big-time offenses, and big-time coaches. It’s time for me to become a big-time player and I’m very excited.”

Parchment got to meet several coaches on the visit and spent a lot of time around new receivers coach Emmett Jones.

“He’s a family guy and a player’s coach,” Parchment said of Jones. “He is a technician. I’m excited for him to help me perfect my craft and get better at the receiver position. All of the coaches stood out. They are coaches with a long pedigree who have coached a lot of big-time players. I’m just excited to be a part of it.”

The Kansas staff seems to be targeting taller receivers with big frames and Parchment fits right into that mold.

“The coaches liked my height and how long I am,” he said. “They liked how I move with the ball. I can play different positions in the offense and can go inside or outside, and Coach Miles was excited about that.”

His decision also means spending two more years with Naylor where the two were teammates at Iowa Central and became good friends.

“I’m excited about that,” Parchment said. “He and I have had a great relationship since we started together. It is a good opportunity for both of us to continue and move to the Big 12.”
