Aundre Gibson has Kansas in top four, plans to visit in spring

The Kansas coaches will not limit themselves to a specific area when it comes to recruiting. In recent years they have not recruited in Arizona often, but when there is an opportunity, they will not turn away.

Kansas cornerbacks Jordan Peterson started recruiting Aundre Gibson a while ago and has built a good relationship with him.

Gibson, a corner from Desert Edge High, has earned double-digit offers from division one programs. Peterson is making a push for Gibson, one of the top corners in the state.

“They been recruiting me hard even before they offered,” Gibson said. “Then when coach Peterson offered me, we started building a relationship and I started looking more into the program.”

The two have talked over the last few months and Gibson likes what he has seen from Peterson and what he tells him about the Kansas program.

“It’s been great building a relationship with him,” Gibson said. “He has great energy and passion I like him a lot he been great.”

Gibson can do a lot of different things on the field and that is one reason Kansas extended him an offer.

“They feel like I can play both corner and nickel and also return kicks and punts,” Gibson said. “They liked how many ways I can affect the game.”

Peterson and the Jayhawks could get good news this spring. Gibson told Jayhawk Slant he plans to take an unofficial visit to Lawrence for spring football.

He has already taken visits to Arizona, Arizona State, Oregon and Oregon State. He holds offers from those programs and several others. Gibson recently released a top four of Kansas, Oregon, Oregon State, and Washington.

He will continue to talk with coaches and take visits and do his research. He does not have a timetable for deciding on a school but will know when the right time comes.

“I don’t really have a timetable it could be quick, but it could also be a while,” he said. “The time has got to be right. The things I am looking for is relationship with the staff, scheme fit for me, having a good plan for me, and a winning program.”
