Sources have told Jayhawk Slant that Kansas head coach David Beaty will add Bill Miller to his coaching staff. This would be the final hire on Beaty’s full-time staff ending with big news.

Miller is a proven coach and considered by many one of the better defensive minds in the game. Miller has served as the defensive coordinator for head coaches such as Nick Saban, Butch Davis, Jimmy Johnson, and Dirk Koetter to name a few.

When he was the defensive coordinator at Michigan State under Saban his defenses were in the top 15 in college football and ranked as the best defense in the Big 10. While at Arizona State under Dirk Koetter he inherited a defense that was last in the Pac 10 and he moved them to second in one season.

Miller was the Jayhawks co-defensive coordinator for one season in 2009. Since then he has been hired by Jerry Kill at Minnesota and also served as the assistant head coach. His most recent stop was Florida State under Jimbo Fisher where he spent his last four seasons. Miller was also the assistant head coach at Florida in 2003-2004.

“He has worked under some of the best head coaches in the business,” one college coaching source told Jayhawk Slant. “You won’t find many resumes better than Bill’s. This is a great addition for Kansas and will be a big help.”

One source said Bill Miller has a great relationship with current defensive coordinator Clint Bowen. The person said those two work well together.
