The college future for Isaiah Bean could be decided on a car ride back to Houston from Lawrence. The defensive end recruit is driving home with his family after an official visit to Kansas.

Bean picked up offers from nine division one schools and took all five official visits. Now that he is getting ready to make a final decision there is no better time to talk about with his family.

“We’re actually talking about it right now,” Bean said on the way home. “We are discussing it as a family on the ride back and could have a decision here pretty soon.”

Kansas defensive line coach Calvin Thibodeaux has been recruiting Bean since the beginning of the season. Bean took an official visit to Cal and then flew directly to Kansas. After his visit he said the academics at Kansas stood out to him.

“One of the big things was the academic support and how much they have of it,” he said. “I really didn’t see that anywhere else. They had really nice facilities and great fan support. We went to the basketball game and I’ve never seen a game at that level.”

Bean was hosted by two defensive ends in Josh Ehambe and Dorance Armstrong. Ehambe was the host for Armstrong when he committed last year. Armstrong is from Houston and went through the same process last year that Bean is experiencing now.

“I met a lot of the players and we just hung out and talked about football,” Bean said.

A decision from Bean could come as early as Sunday evening. We will keep you posted on any more developments with his recruiting throughout the day.
