Durley picks Kansas after visit

When Kansas head coach David Beaty made his first recruiting trip to Texas, the first stop was Houston Christian.
The target he was going to see was Cameron Durley.

"As soon as coach Beaty got the job he flew down here," Durley said. "It was clear to me knowing we were his first stop in Texas and what I meant to him."
This weekend Durley took his official visit to Kansas to get a feel for the Jayhawks program. Kansas offensive lineman Devon Williams was his host.
"I really liked the coaching staff, the facilities, and campus," Durley said. "Everything had that good all around feeling and I felt there was a good family atmosphere."
Durley returned home on Sunday and talked things over with his family. Less than 24 hours before signing day he reached out to the staff at Kansas to tell them he was going to be a Jayhawk.
"After my visit I came back and thought about everything," Durley said. "I loved my visit to KU. That's what made me want to be a Jayhawk. It is a big relief and I feel blessed. I thank God, my family, my friends and my coaches. It feels like a big monkey off my back. I know the work doesn't stop here because I want to make a difference at KU."
Kansas offensive line coach Zach Yenser helped recruit Durley. The offensive lineman from Houston said he felt comfortable around Yenser.
"It was really good to hang around coach Yenser," Durley said. "He's the type of guy that makes you feel welcome. I'm glad he's at Kansas.
Although tomorrow is signing day Durley may wait to make it official. Since he just decided to attend Kansas there may be a big ceremony for him at school.
"I may not sign on signing day," Durley said. "It might be Thursday or Friday. Since I am the first division one commitment from my school my coach wants to do something big."
Durley said he received the most interest from Kansas, TCU, Temple, San Diego State, Texas Tech, and McNeese State. He is currently 6-foot-6, 285 pounds with a 78 inch wing span.
