Going into last week Ekow Boye-Doe was looking for his first division one offer. The athlete from Lawrence High recently landed offers from Northern Iowa and Missouri State.

His summer camps have been solid and he ran a 4.38 at the Missouri State before earning his offer. He camped earlier in the summer at Kansas State and the Wildcat coaches offered him last Thursday.

Boye-Doe participated in the Jayhawks Friday Night Lights camp and within 24 hours he had offers from both division one schools in the state.

“I am blessed honestly,” Boye-Doe said. “This is what I have dreamed of since I was little. I’ve always wanted to play football at one of the highest levels. I just have to keep working.”

The Lawrence High product has been recruiting boards as a wide receiver and cornerback. Both Kansas and Kansas State have offered as a corner. At the Jayhawks camp he worked at cornerback with Kansas assistant Kenny Perry.

“It was great and I had a great time,” he said. “It was my first time to really meet a lot of the coaches. The one on ones were fun and had some good competition.”

When the camp was over the Kansas coaches told him he had a scholarship offer.

“When I was little I dreamed of playing at KU so so we will see,” he said. “It felt great to get the offer. I was hoping before the camp that they would give me a chance and I could earn an offer. They said they liked my speed. They told me they like how long I am and athletic.”

Things happened quickly as Boye-Doe’s offer count doubled before the weekend was over. He wants to let everything soak in and take his time during the recruiting process.

“I’m for sure going to take some time,” he said. “I want to keep my options open and see what I like best.”
