Jayhawks land Florida quarterback

David Beaty had said all along they would add another quarterback to the class if they found the right situation. On Sunday morning it looks like the Jayhawks found someone they were looking for in Carter Stanley.
Beaty, Rob Likens, and Kevin Kane all had a part in recruiting Stanley in the last few days. Kane made the original trip to Florida to visit with him. Then Stanley has several conversations with Likens and Beaty.

"When I woke up Friday morning I saw that coach Beaty from Kansas has started following me on Twitter," Stanley said. "Then my head coach said Kevin Kane was coming down to see me. We drew up some plays on the board and had a good visit."
On Saturday afternoon the phone call came and the Jayahwks were ready to offer.
"Yesterday at 2:00 they told me they were going to offer," Stanley said. "Everything was rapid. They are running the same type of offense that I did at our high school. I was excited when it happened."
This season Stanley earned co-Offensive MVP honors in the Treasure Coast area. He put up eye-opening numbers throwing for 3070 yards, 40 touchdowns, and only seven interceptions. He also ran for close to 600 yards and seven touchdowns.
Many college recruiters didn't know about him because he didn't play much his junior year. Going into the season he wasn't on many junior recruiting lists. The recruiting started off slow but after his season it picked up.
"I didn't really worry about it because I was focused on winning games," Stanley said. "Everything started to pick up once I got the UConn offer. Right after that Miami starting to show interest before Christmas break. They wanted me to graduate early. About that same time Texas Tech also called my coach after they watched my film."
Carter, who has timed 4.6 in the 40, said the Kansas coaches told him they liked his film right away. It is a bonus Vero Beach ran the same type of offense the new staff at Kansas will.
"They told me I'm the type of guy that can stretch the field and also with my running ability," Stanley said. "In high school I ran the spread and up-tempo so I'm excited. When I committed, coach Likens and I were really happy. I was smiling during the whole conversation. After I had a chance to talk to coach Beaty, coach Likens, and coach Kane it wasn't hard to commit to Kansas."
Stanley will take his official visit to Lawrence on January 30.
