When you search for Will Wallace from Cathedral High in Mississippi the returns will always show defensive line or tight end for his position. But the coaches at Kansas have something else in mind for Wallace.

Back in March he got his first communication from the Kansas staff. Then almost two months later he found out the Jayhawks were serious about him.

“I had talked to a Kansas coach earlier and then out of the blue in early may I called coach Yenser and we talked for a while,” Wallace said. “I could tell I really liked him a lot. That’s when he offered me. We have been in close contact ever since.”

At 6-foot-5, 240 pounds the Jayhawks offensive line coach Zach Yenser likes Wallace as an offensive lineman. Wallace recently attended camps at Ole Miss, Arkansas, and Mississippi State where he worked out on defense.

“He told me he liked how fast I am and how well I move for an offensive tackle,” Wallace said. “He told me they can put some weight on me and make me in all Big 12 tackle. He said with my frame they could add weight and I can still be able to move.”

Wallace has also talked with Kansas head coach David Beaty. He likes what he hears about the Kansas program from both coaches.

“They both have told me it is an amazing school,” he said. “Obviously the Big 12 it speaks for itself. It is top of the line. I might take a visit there to see a game.”
