Jayhawks set to sign three in early period

The Jayhawks are expected to sign three junior college players in the early signing period starting on Wednesday. Two of the signees Isi Holani and DeeIsaac Davis went on other official visits last weekend and know Kansas is the place they want to be.
Davis, a 6-foot-4, 295 pound defensive tackle from Highland Community College saw his recruiting pick up after he committed to Kansas. He picked up offers from Southern Miss, Western Kentucky, New Mexico, and Ohio.

Last weekend he took a visit to New Mexico who is preparing for a bowl after winning seven games.
"I am loyal to the soil," Davis said. "I'm excited and I know I made the right choice. My family is behind me and so is the Jayhawk nation."
Davis is originally from the Wichita area and finished his high school career at Andover. Now he will get to play close to home. When he returned from New Mexico he spoke with the Kansas coaches and firmed up his commitment. Kansas linebackers coach Kevin Kane started recruiting Davis midway through the season.
"I talked to the coaches on Sunday," Davis said. "They clarified some things and answered questions and I am ready to move forward."
He plans to sign early in the morning and then get ready to make the move to Lawrence and join the team in January.
"I'm ready to get in there in the spring and get better," he said.
Holani ready for a big move
Holani is preparing for the big move from California to Lawrence. He has been in California for two years after playing his high school football at Hilo High in Hawaii.
"I'm excited and a little nervous," he said. "I love the community and the academics Kansas has to offer. I'm pumped up to get in there and show I can do something to help this program. If we have guys as confident as our coaches are then we will turn it around."
Holani, along with Davis, will add some size to the interior part of the defensive line. Last weekend he took an official visit after getting an offer from Hawaii. Although that's where his family lives he is looking forward to starting a new chapter at Kansas.
"The people and the energy they have in Lawrence stood out," Holani said. "It felt a lot like home to me. I talked to people on the streets and I could see myself playing there. I had never been to Kansas but it was different from what people think it is. Sometimes if you want succeed you have to step out of your comfort zone."
Defensive coordinator Clint Bowen knew about Holani from his former teammate Chris Maumalanga. Bowen offered Holani shortly after meeting him during a recruiting visit to California.
Holani will sign with the Jayhawks around 9:30 a.m. CST.
Two-way performer Robinson brings versatility
Stephan Robinson took official visits to Kansas and Tennessee. After his visit to Lawrence he was ready to commit to the Jayhawks. One of the reasons was the way the coaches treated his family.
"The big thing was the way they treated my family and they loved it," Robinson said. "Me and my little brother are close and they treated him well. The visit was great I loved it. I love the school and everything about it."
Robinson could see the field at different positions. The Kansas coaches told him they like him at cornerback and wide receiver.
Bowen targeted Robinson early in the year. He also picked up offers from Southern Miss, Tulsa, Arkansas State, and Utah State.
Last week coaches from Nebraska and Virginia Tech tried to enter the picture.
"When I talked to the DB coach from Virginia Tech I told him I was happy at Kansas," Robinson said. "He told me if something changes let him know and they would work something out."
Robinson has run in the 4.4 range and could also help on special teams. Although the Jayhawks are coming off a winless season he was impressed with the coaches attitudes.
"Everybody was real positive," he said. "It was almost like they were winning. Nobody really showed that they had a rough season and they didn't have anything bad to say."
He plans to make it official and sign around 7:30 a.m. and send the papers to the coaches.
"I'm ready to sign and get it moving," he said. "I want to get on campus and do big things."
