Johnson names favorite

You can't blame Iowa Western safety Isaiah Johnson if recruiting isn't exactly on the top of his mind this week. Iowa Western CC is taking on Butler for the national junior college championship. Johnson has been a big part of a defense that has allowed Iowa Western to go 11-0.
"Right now winning the championship is what I am focused on more than recruiting," Johnson said.

When the season does end though, Johnson plans to take a visit to Kansas on December 7th. Currently, Johnson has five offers.
"Kansas is probably my number one right now," Johnson said. "Coach Wyatt has always been contacting me and always telling me they want me up there."
Kansas coaches have said they are open to Johnson playing either strong or free safety for them. In addition to having steady contact with Wyatt, Johnson has also been in contact with safeties coach Clint Bowen and head coach Charlie Weis.
"I talked with Coach Weis on the phone the first day they offered me on the phone and I already knew from his background that he was a good coach," Johnson said.
Johnson won't graduate until May and said a likely timetable for a recruiting decision will be closer until signing day. Although if he enjoys his visit at Kansas he could push it up.
"I feel like if I really like the school then I will end up telling them sooner," Johnson said.
Currently at Johnson, he has 36 tackles and 7 interceptions which leads the NJCAA. He was named to the all conference team and earlier in the season was the NJCAA Defensive Player of the Week.
