Juco DT setting visits

The recruiting interest for Wesley Hollingshed is starting to pick up. The 6-foot-3, 300 pound defensive tackle from Trinity Valley College (Tex.) is starting to set official visits.
Kansas is one of the schools that has recently offered him a scholarship. He said a tentative date for an official visit to Lawrence is set for Nov. 12 when the Jayhawks play Baylor.

"I have talked to coach J.B. Grimes and defensive line coach Buddy Wyatt on the phone," Hollingshed said. "Coach Grimes came through last spring and saw me practice. He said they were very interested in me and I am looking forward to getting up there to see the environment."
It never hurts when the head coach gets involved in recruiting and Hollingshed said he has talked to Turner Gill on the phone.
"I have talked to coach Gill a couple times on the phone," Hollingshed said. "I really respect him as a person. We both have a mutual respect for each other. All of their coaches seem down to earth."
Hollingshed, originally from Norcross, Ga., signed with Nevada out of high school. After attending Nevada he transferred to Trinity Valley. He was expected to get playing time as a true freshman at Nevada until he ended up in Texas.
"I had sent film out everywhere," he said. "You don't see a lot of kids from the south go out west. But the Nevada coaches liked my film and I wanted to get away from home."
Offers have come in from Kansas, Kansas State, Mississippi State, and Marshall. Hollingshed has the explosiveness for a defensive tackle that college recruiters look for. The Kansas coaches said they liked his ability to get in the backfield.
"The KU coaches liked my quickness and agility," Hollingshed said. "They said they liked how I can fly to the ball and get to the quarterback. I'm just working to get better."
It could shape up as a Sunflower Showdown since Hollingshed has visits set with Kansas and Kansas State. He will have his first official visit with Kansas State this weekend. His next known visit will be with the Jayhawks.
"I had to wait and see how my schedule and the bye weeks work out," he said. "I will make a decision after my visits."
