This weekend the Kansas coaches are going to host Alex Tchangam on an official visit. The battle could come down to Kansas and Colorado for the defensive end.

The Jayhawks picked up the intensity recruiting Tchangam earlier this month. Defensive line coach Jesse Williams visited Tchangam and then was joined by defensive coordinator Clint Bowen.

Kansas was the first school to offer Tchangam a scholarship.

“The main coach I’ve talked to is coach Jesse Williams,” Tchangam said. “He’s a great coach and I love how passionate he is about the game. I like his character and we instantly clicked when I first met him. I also met the DC (Bowen) he’s a great guy and I’m going to learn more about the staff on the visit.”

Boise State is also in the picture and they recently visited Tchangam. Last week he visited Colorado and left with an offer. The Kansas coaches have tried to sell their program before the visit.

“They’ve told me KU is a great place to be and has great fans,” he said. “They said it’s a great atmosphere. They love that I come off the edge with physicality and speed to get the quarterback.”

This season he had 51 tackles, 16 TFL, and eight sacks. Those are impressive numbers especially for someone who just started playing football at DeAnza College. He didn’t play football in high school.

“Growing up playing soccer and basketball and just being an athlete has helped me a lot on picking up the sport,” he said. “Most of all my coaches at De Anza have helped me elevate my game to the player I am right now and I appreciate everything they’ve done for me.”
