Keaton talks about his recruitment

Camden Fairview's Derek Keaton will have a better idea today where he stands on his recruitment. After learning of Turner Gill's firing yesterday, Keaton talked to his lead recruiter J.B. Grimes about the situation. Grimes said he would call Keaton back on Monday to tell him if he still had a job.
"Coach Grimes staying would definitely help me stay committed because he was one of the main guys recruiting and I feel comfortable around him," Keaton said.

Keaton committed to Kansas over the summer after performing well at KU's summer camps. He said he aware that Kansas had been losing this season, but didn't think Gill's job was in jeporady. Keaton said he heard rumors but didn't pay any attention to them.
"I was in a bit of shock," Keaton said. "I thought he was going to get more time to turn the program around."
At the moment, Keaton isn't sure where he stands in his recruitment.
"I don't know because if they bring in a new coach I don't know if he will like me the way that coach Gill did," Keaton said. "I really like the university and the area but I just don't know with a new coach."
Keaton said if he does open up his recruitment then Arkansas could be an option as they have been one of the schools that have tried to stay in contact with him through his senior season.
