Kendall Brown, the 6-foot-7, 195-pound shooting guard from East Ridge High School in Cottage Grove, Minn., is, as they say, on the move. Brown, the No. 16 ranked player in the 2021 class, has decided to finish up his prep career at Sunrise Christian Academy in Bel Aire, Kan., and, in doing so, the four-star prospect could very well remain in the Sunflower State for the foreseeable future.

On July 16, just four months after East Ridge boys’ basketball team made its first state appearance, Brown announced via Twitter that he was transferring to Sunrise Christian Academy, which is located in Bel Aire, Kan.

In leading East Ridge to its first state appearance in school history, Brown averaged 17.6 points per game. Not only are the Raptors losing their leading scorer, but also seniors Courtney Brown, the older brother of Kendall Brown, along with starting guards Zach Zebrowski and Patrick Lynott.

Furthermore, head coach Bryce Tesdahl resigned in early May to take the head coaching position at Minnetonka.

Before leaving East Ridge for Sunrise Christian Academy, Brown was considered the second-best player (2021 class) in the state of Minnesota, right behind five-star big man Chet Holmgren, the No. 7 ranked player in the class.

Currently, Brown has received scholarship offers from the likes of Kansas, California, Creighton, Iowa, Iowa State, Minnesota, Nebraska, Saint Louis, Texas, Wake Forest, and others.

However, his most recent offer, which came from Kansas earlier in the week, is the one offer he’s been waiting for since he emerged on the scene as a legitimate prospect in the 2021 class.

On Wednesday afternoon, JayhawkSlant.com caught up with Kendall Brown to get his reaction to his most recent offer.

“Yes, I was very excited when Kansas offered me a scholarship,” said Brown. “Yes, Kansas is still my dream school. I was surprised when I received the offer, because my coach told me, then my dad told me and it was confirmed that Kansas offered, so I woke up surprised.

“Kansas has always been my dream school, so I’m very excited about the offer,” he added. “

Eric Bossi, back in December of 2018, had this to say about Kendall Brown.

“One of the top 25 sophomores in the country, Kendall Brown appears to be well on his way to making himself a household name on the recruiting trail,” said Bossi. “A skilled, athletic and versatile shooting guard, Brown is pushing 6-foot-6, can really handle the ball and has developed a jump shot that makes him a serious matchup problem.

“Even though he’s only his second year of high school ball, the 2021 standout exudes confidence and is highly productive in all phases of the game,” he added.
