After beating the Tigers by just 6 last month in Colombia, the Jayhawks made sure to put away this game early. Missouri guard Keon Lawrence came away impressed with Kansas. Kansas dominated the glass by out-rebounding Missouri 48-25. With both Darnell Jackson and Cole Aldrich leading the team with 9 rebounds.

"They are a good team, you can't take anything away from them," Lawrence said. "We played them close at home, but here they just jumped on us."

"They were a lot quicker to the ball," Mike Anderson said. "There were some situations where we had position and we just didn't come up with it. At times, their size was to their advantage. We battled in the first half. We didn't play great in the first half."

For Lawrence, the recent suspensions handed down by Anderson played a role in the fatigue of the team.

"We have been playing shorthanded the last two games," Lawrence said. "A lot of guys are playing a lot of minutes who aren't used to that. Usually I wouldn't be playing this many minutes. I think tonight the minutes kind of caught up with us because we didn't go after the ball aggressively at all."

Lawrence, who only scored 4 points the last time these two teams met up in Lawrence, felt he had to make a bigger impact, for the Tigers to have a fighting chance against Kansas. Lawrence led the team with 25 points on 10-13 shooting

"I knew I was going to have to come ready to play and bring my `A game'," said Lawrence. "The last game I didn't come out aggressive enough, so I knew this time I would have to keep my team in the game. They did a good job defensively on us and they killed us on the boards. It just wasn't our night.

Anderson, though credits the Kansas defense for shutting down the Tigers in the first half, and never allowing Missouri to play their style of basketball. Anderson, felt the rest of the Tigers never got in the flow of the game.

"We tried to get the game going up and down," Anderson said. "The first half we didn't really get up and down the floor. We allowed Kansas to get their defense set. For a guy like Matt Lawrence and even Keon, it can kind of make them a little more ineffective. I thought we got the game and the ball flowing and moving.

"We got some screens and he [Keon Lawrence] made some plays," he added. "They're a good defensive team as well."
