KU Top 40 class: The players who count, but not calculated

One of the rules when counting a recruiting class when it comes to the Rivals formula doesn't allow players who have already played.

But the Jayhawks have a rare situation since several players were blue-shirted. That means they were allowed to join the team last year but their scholarships will count, or come off the numbers for 2017.

The players who will officially be a part of the 2017 class would easily give David Beaty and his staff a Top 40 recruiting class nationally.

Here is a look at some of the players in the 2017 class but don't get calculated in the rankings.

Baldwin signed with Alabama and was the nation's top junior college recruit a year ago. After being dismissed from Alabama he had an impressive fall with Kansas. he drew rave reviews from Kansas offensive line coach Zach Yenser. He has been described as possibly the most talented lineman on the team.

Charlot transferred from Alabama to Kansas. He sat out last year due to NCAA transfer rules. He was selected to the Under Armour All-American team. Nick Saban went on the record saying he didn't want Charlot to leave. He will provide a fast impact for the Jayhawks receiving and return group.

Lee was awarded an MVP at the Rivals Camp in New Orleans. He arrived at Kansas and was eligible to play. He had a big year as a true freshman for the Jayhawks recording 77 tackles and one interception. The interception came against Texas in overtime that helped the Jayhawks upset the Longhorns. Lee was named to about every Freshman All-American team in the country.

Adeniji signed with Air Force in 2016 but had to back out due to a peanut allergy. He arrived in Lawrence in July and by mid-August was running with the first team. He started the first three games at right then moved to left tackle starting the remainder of the season there. Adeniji was selected to the Athlon All Big 12 Freshman Team.

Evans transferred from Arkansas after graduating. He played on several of the Jayhawks special teams. This year he is expected to challenge for starting time in the backfield.

Prox has put on close to 20 pounds since joining the team last summer. In high school he was the District 8 Devensive Player of the Year. He also played running back gaining over 1000 yards. Prox received positive reviews from linebacker coach Todd Bradford and strength and conditioning coach Je'Ney Jackson. Keep an eye on Prox who will be in the mix for a starting spot in 2017.
