Three-star weakside defensive end Miles Emery was part of an impressive group of 2018 prospects that visited Kansas for the Jayhawks first Junior Day of the new recruiting cycle. The 6-foot-5, 235-pound edge rusher from Overland Park (KS) Blue Valley North was back in Lawrence for the first time since last fall, when he left Mount Oread with an offer from KU.

"It was great," Emery said of his visit. "I really like being down there, and I love the family feel down there."

The Mustangs defensive end got his first look at the newly-renovated Anderson Family Football Complex. Emery said he had never seen anything like the Jayhawks locker room.

"I love it," he said. "The locker is so amazing. It was great."

The in-state standout has a good rapport with the Kansas coaches. They made it clear they want to see Emery in Crimson and Blue.

"I talked to most of the coaches for a little," he said of Beaty and his staff. "They are some really friendly guys. They told me 'It would be great if you came here.'"

"We didn't really talk about that much," Emery said of his prospective role with the Jayhawks. "But I think I would still be playing DE, specially if I gain more weight."

Emery was one of the headliners in an impressive group of Kansas City-area prospects. Daniel Carson, Mario Goodrich, and Daniel Parker were all on hand, and the Sunflower State product took notice.

"I knew a lot of the guys up there," Emery said of the other visitors. "I felt everyone liked it a lot, and was so amazed how well it looked. They seemed like they were almost at home."

"I think it's great, and he is a great coach," Emery said of the Jayhawks under Beaty. "I would love to play with all of those players, if I have the chance to. It would be fun."

The Jayhawks were first to offer Emery, and Oklahoma has since followed suit. He is also drawing interest from Iowa State, Kansas State, and Texas, and plans to visit each of them in the next month.
