PHILLIPS 66 BIG 12 PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Travis Releford, Kansas, Jr., G, 6-6, 207, Kansas City, Mo./Bishop Miege
Releford averaged a Big 12-best 22.0 points for the week, leading the Jayhawks to a 2-0 start in league play with wins over Kansas State (67-49) and at Oklahoma (72-61). The junior guard opened with career-highs in points (16) and rebounds (11) versus KSU to record his first career double-double. He followed the performance by matching that career-high in the first half and finishing with 28 points as KU handed the Sooners their first home loss of the season. Releford shot 62.5 percent in the two games, including 55.6 percent from 3-point range. He also made 9-of-10 (.900) free throws, with three assists and two steals. He is averaging 11.7 points this season and has recorded double figures in three straight contests.
PHILLIPS 66 BIG 12 ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Royce White, Iowa State, So., F, 6-8, 270, Minneapolis, Minn./Hopkins
White was instrumental in helping Iowa State start 2-0 in Big 12 play for just the fifth time, as the Cyclones posted victories over Texas (77-71) and at Texas A&M (74-50). He averaged 12.0 points, 12.0 rebounds and 6.0 assists in the wins, including the 12th triple-double in Big 12 history versus the Aggies. In that contest, he posted 10 points and career-highs of 18 rebounds and 10 assists, becoming just the sixth player in league annals to record a triple-double in a conference game. It was the highest rebound total by a Cyclone since Jared Homan grabbed 20 against North Carolina in 2005. The effort helped ISU end a 10-game road losing streak and eight-game skid to A&M. White shot 43.7 percent in the two outings and now has six double-digit rebounding efforts this season.
