Remsberg breaks down visit to Kansas

Three-star prospect Kade Remsberg was one of a number of recruits that visited Kansas for the Jayhawks first official Junior Day event of 2016. The defending 100 and 200-meter state champion from is one of the top athletes in Kansas. The Newton High School standout was impressed with what he saw of KU.

“I really enjoyed it,” Remsberg said of his visit. “I had a lot of fun. I thought the way it was set up was amazing. I got to talk to a lot of the coaches, and I really enjoyed myself.”

The in-state speedster spent time with second-year head coach David Beaty. They talked about where he would fit in best with the Jayhawks.

“I really enjoyed talking to Coach Beaty,” Remsberg said of the former Texas A&M assistant. “His coaches were debating what side of the ball they want me on. He said that they all watched my video again. He likes me better on offense, but that they have me as an athlete right now.”

“If I had to say,” the Railroaders playmaker continued. “I think they are leaning more toward offense. He said he really likes me running the ball, and that he could see me running the ball out of the (Kansas) backfield.”

Remsberg wasn’t the only highly-touted Kansas prospect in attendance at the Jayhawks Junior Day. Three-star Hutchinson offensive tackle Josh Rivas made the trip to Lawrence, as well as Pittsburg defensive end Trevor Kent.

“I know Rivas from Hutch,” Remsberg said of the Salthawks blocker. “I’ve been working with him in Salina, and I talked a little bit with (Trevor) Kent from Pittsburg. That has been on my mind, if everyone went there and tried to rebuild the program. I’ve thought about that, and I thought that would be really cool.”

With track season starting soon, Remsberg is already focused on defending his twin state titles. But he’s also looking ahead to the summer camp circuit. In addition to his offer from KU, he has drawn interest from programs in the Big Ten and SEC. He will likely see campuses in both conferences later this year.

“I had a really good talk with Coach Woods at Iowa,” he said of the Hawkeyes assistant. “If I had to camp anywhere, that might be my number one. That’s the only one I’m pretty sure of. There are multiple camps, and I just don’t know right now. Northwestern and Missouri are pretty high, too.”
