Rush Named co-Big 12 Player of the Week

Kansas junior Brandon Rush and Baylor junior Kevin Rogers and along with Michael Beasley (Kansas State) have been named the Phillips 66 Big 12 Men's Basketball Player and Rookie of the Week, respectively, for games of Feb. 25 - March 2 in voting by a panel of media covering the conference.
It is the second honor this season for Rogers and first for Rush, while Beasley captures a weekly award for a record-tying 10th time (two player, eight rookie). Rush is the second Jayhawk to earn the honor this season as senior Darnell Jackson was selected co-Big 12 Player of the Week Jan. 25.

Rush led the Jayhawks into a tie for first in the Big 12 as KU won at Iowa State (75-64) and defeated Kansas State (88-74). The guard recorded 18.0 points per game in two contests, with averages of 3.5 rebounds and 3.0 assists.
Rush had a season-high 21 points versus Kansas State, including 13 in the first half as KU built a 12-point halftime advantage. He shot 40.7 percent (11-of-17) from the floor, including 61.5 percent (8-of-13) from 3-point range.
This is the fourth career weekly honor for Rush (one player, three rookie), who leads the team in scoring during Big 12 play with 14.2 points per game this season.
Rogers averaged 18.0 points and 11.5 rebounds as the Bears won both games last week at Colorado and against Missouri. Beasley averaged 34.5 points and 13.0 rebounds in two outings.
