Selby cleared academically

With exhibition play set to begin next week, Josh Selby, the No. 1 ranked player in the 2010 class, has not yet been cleared to play. However, the 6-foot-2, 183-pound guard from Lake Clifton High School in Baltimore, Md., has been cleared academically, but his amateur status is still in question. Just moments ago, Self released a statement regarding Selby's status.
"Josh's status for competition hasn't changed," said Self. "While he has met NCAA academic requirements to be on aid, practice and compete this year, we continue to work with the NCAA as we review his amateur status. We will not play Josh in games until that process is complete and a decision is rendered.
"We support and respect the process, and hope that it is over sooner rather than later," he added. "But we don't expect a decision on this before the regular season begins. We will not comment further until the process is complete."
