It is starting to shape up as a Sunflower Showdown for Rahsaan York. The linebacker from American River recently visited Lawrence and a trip to Kansas State is up next.

Last weekend York took his official visit to Kansas who got first crack at the linebacker who is coming off a strong sophomore season.

“The facilities were top notch,” York said. “The access to gear the players get, the nutrition, and they have everything you need.”

Kansas defensive line coach Jesse Williams was one of the first coaches to show strong interest in York this year. After Williams came in Kansas defensive coordinator Clint Bowen joined in the recruiting game.

On his visit he spent a lot of time around Bowen after Williams got the recruiting process started.

“I spent the most time around Coach Bowen,” York said. “The whole coaching staff and support system at KU is great. It felt like a big family atmosphere.”

York was hosted on his visit by Kansas linebacker Kyron Johnson.

This year York piled up the tackles recording 97 for American River. The JC Athletic Bureau named him the National Defensive Player of the Year.

Next up for York is a visit to Manhattan this weekend. He also has a tentative date set with Ole Miss for an official visit on Feb. 2.

“I will make a decision after I take all my visits,” York said. “When it comes time to make a decision, the deciding factor will be how well I fit into the program.”
