Taylor, Samuels share final weekly honor

On Sunday morning, the Big 12 tabbed Tyshawn Taylor as the Player of the Week.

Taylor recorded 24.5 points per game as Kansas won at Oklahoma State (70-58) and defeated Texas (73-63). The senior guard started with 27 points at OSU, one short of his career high, in the win that clinched the Big 12 regular-season title outright for KU.
He followed that with 22 points on senior night versus the Longhorns, his third consecutive 20-point outing. Taylor shot 65.4 percent from the field in the two games, while making 11-of-11 shots from the free-throw line. Taylor finished Big 12 play leading the team in scoring in conference games with 18.6 points per contest.

Samuels helped K-State to a pair of wins last week at Texas A&M (76-70) and versus Oklahoma State (77-58). He had a double-double in each victory, finishing with 17 points and 11 rebounds against the Aggies before posting 17 points and 12 boards versus the Cowboys.
He averaged 17.0 points and 11.5 rebounds on 61.9 percent (13-of-21) shooting, making 6-of-7 (.857) from the free-throw line. The team leader in both double-doubles (8) and rebounding (6.8 rpg), he has double-figures in both points and rebounds in four of his last six outings.

Jackson averaged 21.5 points as the Bears split two games, defeating Texas Tech (77-48) before dropping their season finale at Iowa State (80-72). He scored eight points with four assists in the win over the Red Raiders, before contributing a career-best 35 points at ISU. He was 11-of-19 from the field in that contest with five 3-pointers.
For the week, he shot 56.0 percent (14-of-25) from the floor, including 50 percent (6-of-12) from beyond the arc, with seven assists and three steals. Jackson also made 9-of-12 from the free-throw line and has connected on 29-of-33 (.879) from the stripe in the past six outings. He has scored 18 points or more in three of his last four games.
