Zion Griffin trims list; Sets visit to Kansas

One of the fastest rising prospects in the 2018 class, Zion Griffin is one-step closer to putting the finishing touches on what just recently became an unforgettable journey.

Not long ago, Zion Griffin, the 6-foot-5, 205-pound small forward from Hinsdale (IL) South High School was, without question, an unknown prospect that Kansas fans knew absolutely nothing about.

Fast-forward to today and, well, much has changed for the four-star small forward. With double-digit scholarship offers on the table, Griffin, the No. 100 ranked player in the 2018 class, has narrowed his list of schools and just four remain.

With his senior year at Hinsdale (IL) South High School approaching, Griffin is down to Kansas, Illinois State, Iowa State and Pittsburgh.

Recently, Eric Bossi, National Analyst for Rivals.com, tabbed 15 prospects who could crash the 2018 Rivals150 and, not surprisingly, Griffin was right near the top of the list.

“It's hard to believe, but Griffin was mostly unknown until the mid-point of July,” said Bossi. “A big-time vertical athlete with a dangerous lefty jump shot from deep, Griffin is anonymous no more.”

Having cemented himself as a high-major prospect, Griffin is wasting little time in taking the next step forward in his recruitment. In fact, with an offer from Kansas in hand, Griffin has already scheduled an official visit to Kansas.

“That’s correct. I’m going to visit Kansas for Late Night in the Phog,” said Griffin. “When Kansas offered me a scholarship, I was shocked. Its not something I was expecting and I really didn’t see it coming.

Just how good was Griffin during the month of July. Well, when matched up against Nike EYBL powers Howard Pulley and Boo Williams, Griffin went for 42 and 31 points.
