Kaedin Massey ready to take several visits this spring

Kaedin Massey has made the trip to Lawrence several times and he plans to add another visit when he starts making visits for spring football.

Massey, who is one of the most highly recruited players in the Kansas 2024 class, is getting ready for a busy spring.

He did not take many visits during the winter because his focus was on basketball. He is a starter on Lyndon’s basketball team who was ranked number one for most of the year.

One visit he fit in his schedule went to the Jayhawks when they were preparing for the Liberty Bowl in December.

“Being able to see the practice was really nice,” Massey said. “You get to see how things would run day to day with coaches. You get to see the engagement between players and how they end up looking up to Leipold and Fuchs. They really look up to the coaches, and it was good to see that when I was there.”

Massey has taken four unofficial visits to Kansas. His first was last summer for the offensive line camp. During the visits he has been building a good relationship with Fuchs, the offensive line coach.

“He's a real good guy and very personable,” Massey said. “But at the same time, he seems to know what he is doing and likes to talk about the game and the ins and out of just football itself.”

On Massey’s most recent visit it gave him a different perspective because he watched practice. He saw how the players and coaches interact during a practice.

“Oh, I like watching practice a lot,” he said. “The coaches are legit down there. Leipold is definitely changing things in Kansas.”

Things are going to start heating up for Massey. He said he plans to visit Kansas, Kansas State, Oklahoma and Oklahoma State this spring. He said there could be more visits added to his schedule.

Duke and Minnesota are two of his recent offers. His list has grown to eight Power Five offers including five from schools in the Big 12.

“I'm looking for a school that has good academics and has a program that I feel like I'd fit in well too,” he said. “And just one that just feels right.”
