One of the most physical frontcourt players in the country, 2018's No. 18 ranked playerCarte'Are Gordon, embraces tough play.
The 6-foot-8 power forward at Webster Groves (Mo.) High wears his heart on his sleeve each time he takes the court and has had a huge spring. He played valuable minutes on USA Basketball's u17 World Championship team and he has provided an interior force for Peach Jam winning MoKan Elite.
In the past, Gordon sometimes let his emotion get the best of him, but he's learned how to channel it in a way that gives him a boost.
"I'm just a passionate player in the game," said Gordon. "It's maturity, that's really what it is. Getting used to it and learning that you've got think next play, next play, next play. When I was young (bad plays) would stick with me but now next play, next play, next play is all that I think about."
College programs have certainly taken notice and he's hoping to start making some trips in the near future.
"I have about 15 offers," said Gordon. "I talk to USC a lot, St. John's, Marquette, Iowa,Iowa State, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Kansas, Kansas State, Illinois, Cincinnati,Missouri, UNLV and more.
"I'm planning on taking a lot of visits coming up. I think I'm going to Missouri, I'm going to Illinois and then I'm sure some more but I don't know yet."
Gordon has a strong understanding of where he needs to focus his game.
"We have ball handlers and stuff and if I need to handle I will. But I know my strengths and that's getting to the basket and being physical down low. I just want to keep developing off of what I'm doing. I run the floor hard, I'm a great teammate. I just want keep expanding."
