Just moments ago, Josh Jackson, the 6-foot-7, 185-pound shooting guard from Prolific Prep in Napa, Calf., verbally committed to Bill Self and the University of Kansas men's basketball program.

Josh Jackson, the No. 1 ranked player in the 2016 class, has decided to take his talents to Lawrence, Kan., home of the Kansas Jayhawks. Originally from Detroit, Mich., Jackson, just moments ago, took to Twiiter to formally announce his future plans.

Throughout his recruitment, Jackson, who averaged 26.9 points, 13.1 rebounds and 6.3 steals per game this past season at Prolific Prep, received heavy interest from the likes of Kansas, Arizona, Michigan State, Auburn, Duke, Florida State, Kentucky, Louisville, Maryland, Memphis, North Carolina, North Carolina State, Ohio State, Oregon, Texas A&M, UCLA, UTEP and others.

However, as Jackson inched closer to the final stages of his recruitment, Kansas, Arizona and Michigan State emerged as the clubhouse leaders. In all, Jackson officially visited Arizona (12/19/15), Kansas (1/23/16) and Michigan State (3/5/16) before verbally committing to Kansas on Monday night.

KU's 2016 recruiting class five-star shooting guard Josh Jackson, five-star center Udoka Azubuike and three-star power forward Mitch Lightfoot.

Jayhawk Slant will have much more on KU's newest commitment, Josh Jackson, the co-MVP of the McDonald's All-American game, throughout the evening.
