Several recruits expected for Rhode Island game

Today several Kansas commits will get a chance to be around each other for the first time as a group. Many of the recruits stay in constant contact with each other during the summer and football season.

“All of the players who have committed have a group chat and we have all been staying in touch,” said running back Dominic Williams. “A lot of us have gotten close and it is real cool. So it will be good to meet some of them who are coming in this weekend.”

The group includes a mix of local recruits with those coming in from outside the area. Williams and Reggie Roberson played their games on Friday night and then headed for Lawrence before 6 a.m. this morning.

“I’m looking forward to seeing the campus again and going back home to Lawrence,” Roberson said. “That is like my home away from home. I want to see them get a win under their belt and see how the receivers play.”

Other recruits who confirmed to Jayhawk Slant that plan to make the visit are Robert Topps along with Kansas products Jay Dineen and Joey Gilbertson.

For Topps, a three-star corner, it will be his first visit to Lawrence.

“I’m looking forward to talking with the coaches,” Topps said. “. I also want to meet some of my future teammates. I want to see the entire campus and then the game day atmosphere. I want to see where I will be staying for the next four years.”

Recruits ready to see the new upgrades

All of the recruits are buzzing about the new locker room, lounge, and meeting room. Most of them saw the previous locker room and are excited to see the updated version which was revealed this week.

“It was crazy the improvements they made,” Topps said after seeing it online. “That is huge to have a great facility like that to call home.”

Roberson and Williams saw the older locker rooms and also watched it online.

“I want to see all the new stuff like the locker rooms,” Williams said. “I saw some of it on Twitter and it looks real nice.”
